Lofoteggen

Lofoten’s finest ridge traverse
Lofoteggen runs from Kvittind to Vaterfjordtind across four summits. This serrated knife-edge gives you a long day of scrambling against one of the finest backdrops in Norway, surrounded by the highest peaks on the islands with the Vestfjord below. The full traverse is long and needs good fitness, but there are many variations, so we can shorten the day to suit your fitness and ambitions. The exposed passages call for a rope, yet the climbing is never difficult: most people with mountain-walking experience manage the scrambling with ease.
We use IFMGA-certified mountain guides or IFMGA aspirants on every trip. You need a normal level of fitness, mountain clothing and solid boots or approach shoes. We bring all the climbing equipment.
The Lofoteggen climb
You’ll meet your guide at our office in the morning for a coffee and a briefing before the 10-minute drive to the trailhead.
The approach is a two-hour hike along a pleasant ridge. We rope up where the ridge turns steep and exposed and follow it for almost 1.5 km to the last summit, with several options to bail out if the weather turns.
The descent is a one-hour hike back to the car.
