Ski Mountaineering and Steep Skiing Course
This is not your average course. You wont be standing around allot with your hands in your pocket. We have designed this course with experience, adventure, and hands on training as the first priorities. The terrain in Lofoten is the perfect match for this course allowing quick easy access to steep terrain and technical ski descents. We have endless amounts of steep skiing objectives out our back door from couloirs to big faces all ending at the ocean. Our IFMGA Guides/Instructors will take you on amazing ski lines while instructing/coaching you on technique and technical rope skills along the way. This course will surely change the way you look at skiing and improve your safety while traveling in steep big mountain terrain. There is no better way to enter the world of ski mountaineering!
Steep Skiing Course Itinerary:
This is a 5 day course to allow for all the instruction and skiing time needed to take your skiing to the “Next Level” in big mountain terrain.
Day 1: Lift access off piste steep skiing in Lofoten with a focus on steep skiing techniques.
Day 2: Ski Mountaineering day in Lofoten. Route finding, snow stability evaluation and mountain sense.
Day 3: Ski Mountaineering focusing on roped climbing/descent techniques and terrain management.
Day 4-5: Ski objectives in Trolltindane area full world class steep skiing lines. We will get everybody on terrain matching there skill level that will push you to ski the steeps.
Is this Course for me?
This course is designed advanced and experienced skiers looking to take there skills to the next level. You must be comfortable skiing on 40 degree plus snow slopes in order to even sign up for this course. Please contact us if you have any questions about your skill level and what is required to enter this course.
Equipment
Upon registration we will send you a complete equipment list. There should not be any surprises on the equipment list. We will be using standard ski mountaineering style equipment and have a good amount of rental gear available for those who need climbing specific equipment for the course.
Course Details:
Price: 6800 Nok. Minimum 4 participants.
Dates: April 22 – 27, 2013
Trip Length: 5 days.
Skill Level: Able to comfortably ski sustained 45 deg. snow in a variety of conditions
Guiding Ratio: max 4:1 with room for 8 skiers on the course.
Included in Price: – all course/guide fees and expenses – all group gear, ie ropes, maps, etc
Not Included in Price: – personal ski and climbing equipment/rental available – transportation to/from Narvik – lodging, meals, drinks, lift tickets. – travel insurance.
